The area a paint covers is dependent on a number
of factors –
The spreadability of specific Mitico paint
product
See bottom of individual product information page,
given as litre of paint per square meter(s)
The method of application
paint brush>roller>spray>broom
Paint applied by brush will spread further than that applied by
airless spray
Substrate surface porosity
Friable
surfaces or substrates with high water suction will ‘soak’ up more
paint.
Normally the second coat of paint will spread further than the
first coat.
Surfaces pre-sealed with Mitico PrimeTech will require less ‘high
cost’ decorative paint due to
reduced rate of absorption into the old substrate.
Surface texture
Much less paint required for a smooth flat surface compared to a
rough textured stone chip surface
Surface area to be painted
Profile of roof iron (the hills and valleys) may make the surface
area 1.5 times greater than equal flat area.
Calculation example
Bare rough sawn Wood 2 by 25 meter fence
using TCoat paint, applying
by brush (one coat)
(25*2)*2
[two sides]/10
[1 litre TCoat covers 10 to 12 meters]
= 10 litres TCoat
paint required.
